Identify the intellectual-property object
Copyright, a trademark, an invention, a utility model and an industrial design follow different procedures. The phrase “property-right registration” does not make them applications to a CNAP real-estate registrar.
Start with the Ukrainian National Office for Intellectual Property and Innovations, UANIPIO, which performs the national IP authority’s functions. Choose the specific object on its official portal. An undefined application to “register an idea” does not replace the appropriate procedure.
Copyright
The IP Academy’s 2026 guidance explains that copyright in an original work arises upon creation in an objective form. State registration is not a condition for the right to arise. An idea without expression in a work is not protected on that basis.
For registration, select the application and prepare a copy of the work, author and rights-holder details, relevant rights evidence and payment documents under the current requirements. Electronic submission uses SEV ZES with a qualified electronic signature; paper submission is also available. The old [email protected] submission route has closed. Follow the official filing instructions.
Trademarks
A sign distinguishing goods or services uses the trademark procedure. The official guidance lists an application, representation of the sign and goods/services classified under the Nice Classification, with additional documents where applicable. Registering a sole trader or company name does not replace this application.
Check the applicant, sign and classes before paying. Fees depend on the application parameters and filing method; one price does not apply to every mark. Submission is not successful registration.
Technical solutions and subsequent steps
A technical solution requires the appropriate patent route; a product’s appearance may qualify for industrial-design protection. Use the official forms and examples for the correct object. A trademark form is not an invention application.
The filing page describes electronic systems for the relevant applications. Follow its official links, check the signature and attachments, and retain the filing number, date and messages. Examination or clarification requests require separate responses; an acknowledgement is not the final protection document.
If appointing a representative, check official patent-attorney records. A CNAP is not a universal office for intellectual-property registration.
