This route describes the general procedure. Some steps depend on your circumstances and may involve different authorities. Check the current requirements for each service before applying.

Getting started

Start with safety and property information. A notification records damage; a separate compensation application starts the funding assessment. This checklist helps you prepare. The authorised commission decides the property assessment, eligibility and amount.

What to do

  1. Check safety and existing applications

Do not enter unsafe housing to inspect or photograph it. Find existing notification and claim references. For repeated damage, first check the earlier case, verification and special-account status.

  2. Check the ownership record

Check the property-rights entry, owners, shares and address. If the electronic record or a document is missing, identify the required registration action. Information about existing rights and initial registration are different services.

  3. Register a damage notification

Report accurate property and damage details through Diia or a confirmed in-person service. Keep the reference. This does not award compensation; funding or a certificate requires a separate application.

  4. Choose the compensation route

Check the repair route for housing that can be restored. For destroyed housing, consider a certificate or eligible private-house rebuilding. Check land conditions for construction. The commission makes the final property assessment.

  5. Prepare the account, co-owners and application

Open the relevant special account for a cash-funding route. Co-owner participation and consent differ for damaged and destroyed property. Check the applicable rules, apply and retain confirmation. Confirm in-person acceptance at the exact branch.

  6. Complete the commission assessment

Arrange an inspection where required and supply requested information. Check case status and the decision. The basic assessment period does not guarantee a payment date; suspension and funding follow separate conditions.

  7. Use the award and complete the required follow-up

    If applicable

Keep repair spending evidence and submit the required report. For a certificate, check funding reservation and the notarial purchase; for construction, check stages and reporting. Terminate ownership of destroyed property at the prescribed stage after the decision.

Document checklist

Tick the documents you have prepared. This is a general checklist: items marked “If applicable” are only needed in the relevant circumstances. Check the service requirements for the final document list. You do not need to upload documents to this website.

Things to consider

  • Checklist ticks are a personal preparation plan, not a submitted government application. This site does not collect documents or bank details.
  • Confirm the compensation route and appointment at the exact CNAP branch or notary. The local commission decides claims; the directory does not.
  • Damaged and destroyed housing have different co-owner consent, spending and registration requirements. One document list does not fit every case.
  • After repeated damage, do not duplicate an unfinished case. First resolve the previous claim, verification and special-account status.
  • Individual stage guides are available in Useful guides and the linked service profiles.

Continue to individual procedures

The “Damaged or destroyed housing: eRecovery” route connects several applications. Open the relevant procedure for your next step and check where to apply; optional actions depend on your circumstances. Checklist ticks help you organise preparation and do not confirm that an institution has completed an action.
