Deregister a residential address

Remove a declared or registered residential address on a recognised legal ground.

Open moving boxes in a bright room beside a window

These are general requirements for the procedure. Availability at each reception point is verified separately. Confirm reception arrangements and current requirements before visiting.

Fee

1.5% of the statutory subsistence minimum for able-bodied persons on 1 January of the current year; confirm the amount, exemptions and charging grounds.

Processing time

One working day for an in-person application; electronic delivery depends on checks and service availability.

Who can apply

The registered person, an authorised representative or another applicant in prescribed cases. An owner’s application to deregister another person has additional conditions.

Documents to prepare

  • Prescribed application and an identity document.
  • Fee payment confirmation.
  • Military registration document where required.
  • For a child under 14, the birth certificate and required representative documents.
  • Depending on the ground, a court decision, permanent-emigration decision, death record or the property owner’s documents.

How to apply

  1. Check the competent authority and deregistration ground.
  2. Submit the application and supporting documents, or check eligibility for an electronic application.
  3. Obtain the decision and request separate confirmation of the address change if needed.

What you receive

An address deregistration decision or a reasoned refusal.

Possible grounds for refusal

  • Identity, authority or the application ground is not established.
  • The documents are incomplete or inaccurate.
  • Statutory restrictions apply to the relevant category of persons.

Before you apply

  • A separate old-address deregistration application is normally unnecessary when registering a new address at the same time.
  • Do not apply the owner-initiated adult deregistration procedure automatically to children.

Where to apply

Only published reception points with address-specific evidence are listed below. This is not a complete list.
