A calculator, a pen and a financial report on a work desk

Read the conditions for your award

Before buying, check the decision, work list and special-account rules. Repair funding, construction funding and housing certificates have different conditions. This guide concerns repair spending; a housing certificate is not a repair payment card.

Check the participant before paying

Open the official list of shops and contractors. Use its category, operating-format and address filters. Confirm the exact outlet, product or service and its ability to accept an eRecovery payment before visiting. A brand appearing in the list does not replace checking the actual payment location.

Organise spending evidence

Retain the receipt, invoice or other evidence for each payment and note the work it relates to. Keep safely obtained photographs of the initial condition, materials and completed result. Do not publish bank details or personal documents in directory reviews.

Prepare the completion report

After the work, submit the notification or report required by the procedure. Interim stages, final reporting and deadlines depend on the category and compensation route. Check your case requirements before the spending period ends. Buying materials does not, by itself, close the application.

The commission may verify permitted use of the compensation. Keep supporting records until checks are complete and respond to official requests. If the property suffers further damage, use the repeated-damage guide instead of treating it as ordinary repair completion.
