What a Ukrainian passport ranking measures
A passport index compares access for short international visits. It does not issue a passport or decide whether an individual crosses a border. When comparing results, record the provider, measure and date: matching access scores can accompany different ranks.
The Henley Passport Index 2026 table placed Ukraine 32nd, with access to 142 destinations. This is a dated observation of the table, rather than a position guaranteed throughout the year.
The Passport Index Ukraine Dashboard showed Mobility Score 142 and Passport Power Rank 26 on the same date: 87 destinations classified visa-free, 47 visa on arrival and eight eTA. A score of 142 does not mean 142 countries requiring no advance action in every case.
Why the two ranks differ
Henley’s methodology covers 199 passports and 227 destinations. Its scoring includes visa-free access, visas on arrival and specified electronic travel authorities; an eVisa requiring advance approval is treated differently. Passports with equal scores can share a rank.
Passport Index publishes its own methodology, destination coverage and distinction between global and individual rankings. Its rank 26 therefore cannot replace another provider’s rank 32. Neither index is a passport number, a Ukrainian demographic-register number or an application-tracking result.
Finding visa-free countries for your trip
Open the destination table on Passport Index’s Ukraine page and search for the country. Germany, Poland, France, Czechia, Italy, Spain, Georgia and Moldova were labelled visa-free when checked. The provider’s table gives its full list and classifications. Check purpose, duration, document type and transit separately.
Next consult the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry’s interactive map and the destination’s official embassy or immigration website. Read the date of the particular notice: an accessible webpage does not make an old announcement current. An eTA, a visa on arrival and an electronic visa involve different procedures.
For example, the German Embassy’s guidance explains the biometric-passport visa waiver and short stays of 90 days within a 180-day period. Visa exemption is not unconditional admission; purpose, funds and other evidence can be checked. Employment and longer residence need separate consideration.
Before booking travel
Check the passport’s validity and condition, every transit country and the carrier’s requirements. Rules for leaving Ukraine require a separate check; a mobility ranking does not establish them. A child’s documents and accompanying-adult arrangements also need review.
